"I'm getting this website up and running for you Moe..."

Mark "Moe" Milleza started this team to help the fight against cancer. "An Active Movement" he called it. A movement to get individuals like you and I to participate in worthy causes, both physically and mentally. Every little bit counts. So that "spare change" in your pocket, purse or car ashtray can go to more than you expect. Mark had that vision. Whatever you can donate, it would go towards an event we would participate in. Mark started Team Spare Change in March of 2007. Not only to bring family and friends together to have a good time
biking, running, swimming or anything athletic, but also to draw
awareness for the fight against cancer. The first event the team participated in was the Cool 24 hr Bike Race in Cool, CA. in May of that year. The Cool Race is a fundraising event for cancer research. 10 individuals, family and friends, raced in that event. With the support of several more family and friends, we made our first outing a success. We knew we had to be back next year!
With the help of more family and friends, word spread of Team Spare Change and our cause. For the next Cool Race (May 3-4 2008), we got 12 committed riders on the roster. With an overwhelming support from many family and friends that came to cheer on the team, we placed in the top 10!
Mark passed away suddenly on July 24, 2008. He was 29 years old. He had been battling cancer for 2 years. He died of cancer of the appendix. Each day he lived with the cancer it was a struggle, but through his strength and determination he stood tall and proud. He would never give in to the pain and suffering, only to smile and take on each day to the fullest. We will always remember him, and we will live out his legacy. We will ride for him.
Moe, ride with us...
